Cabot Undervalued Stocks Advisor Special Bulletin

Two stocks reported fourth-quarter results; plus price action on two more.

Today’s News: Supernus Pharmaceuticals (SUPN) and TiVo (TIVO) reported fourth-quarter results; plus price action on Guess? (GES) and Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF).

Supernus Pharmaceuticals (SUPN) reported strong fourth-quarter results yesterday, with EPS and revenue above all analysts’ estimates. (I’ll report additional details after I listen to the conference call.) The stock is up about 11% this morning at 41, and could rise as high as the upper 40s in the coming months. Any pullbacks in the coming days are likely to be very brief, and should be considered as excellent buying opportunities. Strong Buy.

TiVo (TIVO – yield 7.2%) reported fourth-quarter results yesterday. The company continues to work on strategic initiatives, with the implication that they are discussing the sale of one or both divisions of the company with prospective buyers. To that end, TiVo is working toward de-linking the two divisions from an operational perspective, in order to make the sale of one or both divisions more seamless. The press release recounted many product and revenue successes. (I’ll report additional details after I listen to the conference call.)

The stock is down about 10% this morning, as traders lose patience in waiting for an M&A deal. Since a potential M&A transaction is still in the works, the dividend remains solid, and the company continues to develop new products and client contracts, I’m going to leave my recommendation intact. TiVo is appropriate for risk-tolerant stock investors. Strong Buy.

Guess? (GES – yield 4.1%, Strong Buy) and Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF – yield 3.7%, Strong Buy) are doing great today, up 2%-3% each. The GES price chart has been in a trading range, and might surpass that trading range soon. The ANF price chart exhibited a recent breakout, yet its run-up seems to have barely begun. If you want a stock that’s showing an ability for a near-term run-up, ANF seems to have the edge over GES. I like them both very much.
