Stock Recommendation Tracker

The Stock Recommendation Tracker is a table that features all of the current recommendations in all of our portfolios. It’s a quick way for you to see what stocks are currently in our portfolios and will highlight new additions or any changes to our recommendations over the previous week. We include this table at the bottom of the Weekly Summary, and provide a link here at the top to the Stock Recommendations Tracker.

Cabot Weekly Review (Video)

In this week’s stock market video, Mike Cintolo talks about his continued defensive stance amidst the market’s downtrend, with the high-profile retail debacle (TGT, WMT) hurting the cause. That said, growth stocks have stopped leading on the downside for the time being, and the plunge in defensive stocks while that’s happening is something to note. Mike runs though a big list of names to watch, and even mentions one sector he believes will lead the next growth advance, whenever that begins.

Advisory Services

Cabot Growth Investor

Bi-weekly Issue June 2: The market’s evidence has clearly improved during the past couple of weeks, so much so that our Cabot (and Growth) Tides are now on the fence, while our old Two-Second Indicator is starting to pick up on a bullish change in character for the broad market.

Bi-weekly Update May 26: The market is having one of its better days in a few weeks—as of 2 pm ET, the Dow is up 578 points and the Nasdaq is up 329 points

Cabot Top Ten Trader

Movers & Shakers June 3: As we cruise into a holiday weekend, it’s (finally) been a solid week for the market—the major indexes are up in the 3% to 5% range, though most growth funds/indexes, while up, are lagging a bit behind that.

Weekly Issue May 31: This week’s list is again heavy on commodity-related stocks and special situations, along with some recent earnings winners sprinkled in. Our Top Pick is a medical firm that lifted above long-time resistance following a clean FDA approval.

Cabot Options Trader and Cabot Options Trader Pro

Note that the current week’s Weekly Update, earnings updates, position updates and stocks on watch are posted on the website in the Market Update section, which is deleted each week.

Cabot Options Basic & Pro Trade Alert: June 1: Buy the Antero Resources (AR) November 45 Calls (exp. 11/18) for $8.50 or less.

Cabot Options Trader Pro Weekly Update May 31: Long positions: F, MRVL, ONON, OXY, QQQ, UBER, XLF

Cabot Options Trader Basic Weekly Update May 31: While it may be counterintuitive, the bad economic data last week may have been just what the stock market bulls were looking for, as the disappointing numbers caused traders to price in less aggressive interest rate hike expectations for the remainder of the year, which had weighed on the market for months.

Cabot Options Trader Stocks on Watch May 19: The slight uptick in bullish hope from Friday and Tuesday was quickly washed away yesterday as growing recession fears walloped the market. Essentially, Wal-Mart (WMT) and Target (TGT) are disappointing Wall Street, and in reaction those stocks fell approximately 25%, as traders are in sell first and ask questions later mode.

Cabot Undervalued Stocks Advisor

Monthly Issue June 1: We’re at the end of the beginning of the post-pandemic era. We moved shares of a healthcare stock from HOLD to SELL as it reached our price target. And, we moved shares of a consumer stock from BUY to HOLD as we want to re-think our outlook and valuation.

Weekly Update May 25: Journalists May Be Wrong in Implying that Interest Rates Won’t Increase Much More. The media, including highly reputable sources like Bloomberg, Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal, have written that “real” interest rates are now positive.

Cabot Stock of the Week

Weekly Issue May 31: The market remains quite weak, and thus ripe for a major rally at any time. But until we see real strength, continued caution is advised.

Cabot Explorer

Bi-weekly Update June 2: Explorer positions had an up week as the S&P 500 has begun a turnaround from bear market territory and is now down “only” about 13% for the year. This means it is up around 6% since hitting its recent low on May 19 as the Fed has softened its tone and China tries to get growth going.

Bi-weekly Issue May 26: Inflation may be easing somewhat but interest rates will continue to move upward, presenting a headwind for markets. Investors are acting on bargains but in restrained ways until an uptrend develops.

Cabot Small-Cap Confidential

Monthly Issue June 1: The market continues to be messy, but we’re going to take a partial swing at a profitable software company playing in a big, growth market – cloud services.

Weekly Update May 26: After a rough week last week small caps have bounced back over the last two sessions and have the potential to close at a three-week high today. I’d like to see the S&P 600 Index close back above 1230 (at 1224 now) before turning more bullish.

Cabot Dividend Investor

Weekly Update June 1: Things have gotten a little better in the market. The situation has gone from bad to crummy. The S&P 500 rallied from the lows to move away from the bear market precipice.

Monthly Issue May 11: It might not be too early to bargain hunt very selectively. Companies that are likely to continue to grow earnings and the dividend are likely to recover. There is one such opportunity in the cannabis sector.

Cabot Early Opportunities

Alert May 18: We’ve held on to a small stake in Endava (DAVA) hoping the market would turn around before our gain dwindled too much. With the stock sneaking below last week’s low today we’re going to step aside. Like many companies I think Endava is doing a good job and will pull out of this just fine. But I’m not willing to let a gain slip entirely away. We can return to it later when the environment for the stock improves. SELL REMAINING HALF

Monthly Issue May 18: Tyler’s top pick Axonics (AXNX), is developing disruptive solutions for patients that suffer from overactive bladder (OAB), Urinary Retention (UR) and Fecal Incontinence (FI). The most common symptom of these ailments is the frequent and urgent need to go to the bathroom. They are often the result of abnormal communication between the brain and the bladder and bowel.

Cabot Profit Booster

Weekly Issue June 2: While it may be counterintuitive, the bad economic data last week may have been just what the stock market bulls were looking for, as the disappointing numbers caused traders to price in less aggressive interest rate hike expectations for the remainder of the year, which had weighed on the market for months.

Alert May 20: The market has been a mess for the past several months, as countless stocks have completely fallen apart. It’s been UGLY. That being said, the Cabot Profit Booster held up fairly well this month, as I structured our trades defensively, and the large call premiums we collected offset the market’s decline.

Cabot Micro-Cap Insider

Weekly Update June 1: Last week, I closed out my BBX Capital (BBX) recommendation for a profit of +172%.

Alert May 27: I originally recommended buying BBX Capital (BBXIA) in October 2020 at a price of 3.17, shortly after its spin-off from Bluegreen Vacation Holdings (BVH).

Monthly Issue May 11: Today, I’m recommending a company that will benefit from the post-pandemic travel boom.

Cabot Income Advisor

Weekly Update June 1: Is the market improving? There are some reasons to believe it might be. The broader S&P 500 index has come right up to the precipice of a bear market, down 20% or more from the high on a closing basis. It closed down 19% and actually crossed the 20% on an intraday basis.

Monthly Issue May 25: It’s too soon to buy new stocks aggressively. But there is a safer place in the meantime to generate a high yield without much downside in the near term.

Cabot Turnaround Letter

Weekly Update June 3: We comment on earnings from one holding, and reluctantly move an energy stock from BUY to SELL as it reached our price target. No change in our rating for another energy stock which is near our price target. Also, some nuggets from highly-regarded venture capital firm Sequoia Capital on the valuation and capital meltdown in tech stocks.

Monthly Issue May 25: While the stock market has surged since its pandemic low, shares of many companies have sold off sharply and now trade below their March 23, 2020 level.

Cabot Money Club

Monthly Magazine June 1: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed May 18 down 1,164.52 points. Rates are rising, and inflation is cutting into our discretionary funds. It’s disheartening, for sure, but don’t give up! There are ways to maximize your portfolio and minimize your risk during these uncertain times. Just read on for some ideas that will help you navigate these uncertain times.

Stock of the Month May 12: As Mike Cintolo, Chief Analyst of Cabot Growth Investor and Cabot Top Ten Trader always says, “you shouldn’t fight the tape.” The markets are battling it out these days, trying to find a bottom. The constant news cycle of Russia-Ukraine, rising rates (up 0.5% last week) and increasing inflation are causing a severe case of market indigestion and volatility.

Cabot ETF Strategist

Weekly Update May 31: In this week’s update, I’ll focus on how ETFs are responding to the Federal Reserve minutes, released last week. These kindled some optimism in the stock market, as you see here on a chart of the S&P 500. One reason for the market uptick? The Fed gave no surprises, and the market doesn’t like surprises!

Monthly Issue May 10: One key tenet of asset allocation is risk management. You’ll find that principle to be much more salient when it comes to investing an entire portfolio, as opposed to simply trading individual stocks.

Ask the Experts

Cabot Growth Investor

Question: Hi Mike, why did Albemarle (ALB) and Livent Corp. (LTHM) drop a lot today? Is your indicator improved for the overall market and (is it) possible to add (to these) positions now?

Mike: Well, one big brokerage house did downgrade the sector, saying lithium prices should fade down the road. But really, it’s just another breakout attempt that’s failed. At this point, both are holds but with tight stops under the recent lows. As for the market – it’s close, but the intermediate-term trend is still not yet up.
