Stocks have been pummeled since the beginning of the year, but may be trying to make a stand over the last week or so. Only time will tell if this bottoming attempt succeeds, and we will stick with the evidence the market gives us, which is negative right now. In our commentary, we point out that much of the bad news the market is reacting to is already well-known, so a bottom could start building at any time. In today’s issue we also have a South American bank that’s enjoying the effects of several pieces of good news.
