Digging into the News

The market has shown some encouraging signs of bouncing back from last week’s negativity, but the signal from the Cabot Emerging Markets Timer is still a negative one. The good news is that the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF has found support at 43 and is hanging around in the neighborhood of its 25- and 50-day moving averages. So the optimistic view is that it might take just one good week to get our buy signal back. We, of course, take the harder-nosed view that a sell signal is a sell signal until it isn’t, and that’s how we’re managing our stocks. In this issue, we have an unusual pick, one that gets us out to the boundaries of the emerging markets.
