September Expiration – PLTR, VRT, FRPT
Today is the expiration of three of our September covered call positions. Let’s dive in …
Let’s begin with our Palantir (PLTR) covered call. Initially, we bought the stock for 19.90 and sold the September 18 call for $3.30.
Today the stock is trading at 15.50. My plan is to simply let this position play itself out. If PLTR closes below 18 today (likely), the call we sold will expire worthless, and then come early next week I will decide if we should sell a new call to lower our cost basis.
Moving on to Vertiv (VRT). Last month we bought stock at 35 and sold the September 35 call for $1.70.
Today the stock is trading at 38. My plan is to simply let this position play itself out. If VRT closes above 35 today, we will walk away with a nice $170 profit, or a yield of 5.1%.
Finally, Freshpet (FRPT). Last month we bought the stock at 79 and sold the September 75 call for $6.30.
Today the stock is trading at 72.5. My plan is to simply let this position play itself out. If FRPT closes below 75 today (likely), the call we sold will expire worthless, and then come early next week I will decide if we should sell a new call to lower our cost basis.
