Intrepid Potash (IPI)
From Crisis and Opportunity
Intrepid Potash (IPI) is a U.S.-based potash producer that can produce 400,000 tons a year. Potash is used as fertilizer to make food grow. Potash is one of those commodities that is very much in need—farmers have to have it. And when supply is tight, it launches.
The company also sells water to frackers in west Texas. IPI is a $510 million (WSBI Editor’s note: now $432 million) company by market cap. The company expects to sell $20 to $30 million in water this year at a 90% margin. Water sales and price will go up with the price of oil, now at $65.
Earnings are out next month (February 27) and this could be a nice stock to own going into what should be positive earnings.
Brought Intrepid Potash Inc. with a one-month price target of $5.25 and a one-year price target of $9.
Put your stop in at $3.33.
