There has been very little going on in our portfolio this week. After last week’s 3.5% average gain, our stocks have moved only -0.5% this week, on average. There hasn’t been a single press release published by any of them. And not one has made a move that’s dramatic enough to change my rating from last Friday’s update!
Despite the lack of action with our stocks, global markets continue to rise. And the S&P 600 Small Cap Index is less than 1% away from its all-time high, set at the beginning of this month.
There’s plenty we could discuss, from crypto currencies to tax overhaul to the interesting surge in the price of oil (which has finally pushed my favorite speculative oil stock, royalty company Viper Energy Partners (VNOM) back above its 2014 IPO price!).
But with this being a short week, and as I’ve been trying to spend time with my wife and kids, I’m going to keep it short and sweet today and focus my energy on our first stock of 2018. This is a stock I’ve been eyeing for a while, and which, at its core, is in the business of making people smarter. It has an interesting story, a terrific growth profile, and appears to be solid enough for our consideration. But, still early-stage enough to deliver handsome gains over the months and years ahead.
